Advanced Fighting Handgun – Grand Junction, CO

Date(s) - 05/27/2017

Outdoor Range (TBA in registration email)

The Advanced Fighting Handgun (AFH) Course is the natural progression beyond our Defenders Series or the Defensive Handgun I & II courses, and we generally will not accept anyone in the AFH unless solid proficiency have been demonstrated in the previous course. Exceptions will occasionally be made based at the discretion of D-USA staff.

The AFH Course is a full day of advanced and unorthodox handling and shooting, all on the range. The skills from the Defenders Series or DH1 & 2 are reinforced quickly at the beginning of this course, and we’ll move forward from there.

This AFH Course will covers malfunction drills, one handed-reloads, malfunction drills, 360 degrees draw strokes, unorthodox positional fighting, handling, and shooting, shooting from and best uses of cover and concealment, long range shooting, handling and shooting in and around vehicles, high-stress physical exertion shooting, shooting in defend of others from multiple positions and locations, extreme precision shooting, and far more.
The students will also engage in realistic scenario-based situations, responding to complex threats and will also need to explain the legal justification for their actions or non-actions within these scenarios.
This is a mentally and physically challenging course, taking the students confidence and ability to defend life with a gun to even higher levels.

Each student will need to bring a handgun, reliable holster, three magazines, between 650-1000 rounds, eye and ear protection, weather appropriate clothing for an outdoor environment, and any wanted food or non-alcoholic beverages for this course.
The lunch break will be not be lengthy and it is usually best to bring food for a lunch break there at the range.

Call 970-986-0774 with any further questions.

We look forward to seeing you in the Advanced Fighting Handgun Course.

“I am sorry it has taken me a week to sit down and write but I wanted to thank you for the excellent training you gave me when I went to your Defenders handgun safety course and the CCW class the night before. I cannot tell you enough how much I learned from the classes.  There is SO MUCH more to using a gun properly and what comes afterward than I thought when I signed up for the class. And I appreciate the fun way you teach, it makes the  huge amount of information you gave us understandable and interesting.
Having a gun is an awesome responsibility and hearing the legal aspects of it made it even more clear to me what a huge responsibility it is. I had no idea how much there is to it, not what I have seen on TV for sure! I was a little scared of it all but after actually shooting the way you taught us, I wasn’t so scared anymore. I know If I line up the way you taught us, with the grip you taught us, it isn’t hard to hit what you mean to hit. I have a lot more confidence now, I hope I never need it but you never know, and I thank you for it.
Something else I did not expect-I had the longest conversation with my Dad than I have had in years! He is the reason I even took your class and he wanted to hear all about it and is excited for me to come visit so I can show him what I learned. And now my husband and I have something else we can do together. Robin says he may get one of those Rugers, he liked the one of yours he used so much, and that is the gun my Dad says he prefers also (when he uses a .22). So, family bonding! a benefit I did not expect.
Again, Thank You! You are an excellent teacher and made a very serious subject come alive and made it easy to remember by making it FUN!  I have told all my friends about your class, they could see how excited I was about it.  All my best to you and Scott, thank you from Robin and me.”
