Cameo Shooting & Educational Complex
This is a one day Advanced Fighting Rifle & Handgun Course, focusing on using both weapons platforms effectively in a fighting environment that goes far beyond both our Fighting Rifle Applications and beginner handgun courses.
The course will be held in Bay 6 of the Cameo Shooting & Education Complex, starting at 0830 and ending around 1830 hrs. Be flexible on the ending time.
This is not a beginners course, and will be taught by both Adam Winch & “Grizz”, who have a professional “a lot” of combined of time and experience and training in these areas; the realism of this course and the instructors will be to your benefit.
This course is intended for current or prior LEO’s, the professional full-time firearms carrier, Mil personnel, or for the well-trained civilian who have demonstrable expertise in both weapons platforms, which would include Defenders USA students who have completed these courses (“Defenders Series”, Defensive Fighting Handgun I & II, Handgun Speed & Precision) AND our Fighting Rifle Applications courses. In short, you must already be proficient in both types of gun uses to attend.
If you really want to be ready for this course, attending the Advanced Fighting Handgun on the day prior to this one will get you tuned up and ready to rock ‘n roll in this one.
This is an intensive, fighting course using a lot of cover and concealment, often in unconventional positions or in vehicles, intended to enhance and further combined firearms skills in a dynamic or combat environment, focusing on proper weapons selection for the environment, effective handling and shooting of both platforms in realistic situations, transitions, addressing efficient weapons use, proper tactics, clearing, movement, working with others in a very close quarters non-permissive environments, scenario response, shooting with various barriers, stress handling & shooting, one-handed & injured manipulations and shooting, catastrophic weapons mitigation, intro to low light, shooting in, around, over, under, through, out of, into vehicles with multiple other shooters, ambush and counter-ambush shooting, etc.
This is a physically demanding course, so come prepared to work hard, sweat a lot, shoot even more, and with an open, thoughtful yet aggressive mindset. This is a fighters course and such a mindset is needed.
We will also deal with gear, kit, and accessory selections, along with an intro to low light situations.
We cannot emphasis enough: this course is not intended for beginners or for those without actual, professional, realistic firearms training.
Fighting rifle, minimum of 3 magazines, with a quality sling (optics are optional but certainly helpful). Your rifle needs to already be zero’ed. We don’t care what your zero is, as long as you understand your zero. If you want our advice, a 50 yard zero is recommended but certainly not mandatory. You do you.
Handgun & quality holster and gear, along with at least 3 magazines (Blackhawk SERPA and other similar holsters are banned). Your call on AIWB or hip/thigh carry/rigs
Any kit worn or carried, especially for LE or Mil, or if going into possible or known non-permissive environments professionally
Minimum of 350 rounds of ammo for handgun and 500 for rifles (Ammo is available either through us or the Cameo range; call if you need to reserve ammo).
Eye & ear protection (electronic ear pro is helpful)
Anything you want to eat or drink (non-alcoholic), lots of water. There will only be a short lunch break and we will need to stay there to eat.
Sunscreen, bug spray, and clothing appropriate for an outdoor environment for whatever weather is like that day
A camping table
A sturdy mat (you will be on the ground a lot and the Cameo ranges are hard packed dirt and gravel. A mat will be more comfortable than groveling in the dirt and rocks)
