Rocky Mountain Gun Club
This is an intensive, two-day course focusing on introduction to and building realistic, effective fighting skills with both a fighting rifle / carbine and handgun in low-light and no-light environments. What breaks we take will be short, as there is a huge amount of training and work to squeeze into this weekend.
This is not a beginners course, with perquisites required of having attended our “Defenders Series”, or the Defensive Handgun II & II, or our Advanced Fighting Handgun Course, along with our Combat Rifle / Carbine Applications, and/or the Fighting Rifle & Handgun Course, or other provable quality fighting weapons courses where your own skills are up-to-date and can be verified.
Basically, we need to know you can already safely, proficiently, and professionally use a handgun and rifle in a solid fighting manner before you can attend this course. Realistic skills, unquestionably safety, and high proficiency of handling and use of both weapon platforms must be either known by us or demonstrable.
Other considerations for attending this course if not a former student of Defenders USA courses is a prerequisite of provable, extensive, professional, and realistic firearms training with both handgun and fighting rifle systems, or as a full-time firearms carrier, such as sworn LE or solid MIL training (unfortunately, most standard MIL firearms training is not very good and a good majority of LE firearms training is often sub-par also).
We’ve had those who believe they are weapons proficient, with some even being “firearms instructors” yet weren’t even close to prepared for this course. They showed up without solid, realistic training with their long guns and/or handguns, slowing the entire class down as we had to train them in the basics. We won’t have time for that in this course and would need to respectfully ask you to leave.
To attend, you need to be handgun and rifle proficient. If you aren’t sure you’re up to this standard, contact us so we can figure it out with you or let us help you get there in our other courses.
This is an extensive, dynamic course, mostly in an low light to no light environment in an indoor range. We will also use a low-light shoot house in force-on-force once solid handing, shooting, movement, barricade use, tactics, use in and around vehicles, transitions, malfunction clearance, team skills, etc. are built and demonstrated on a low light range.
The students will by pushed hard by experts with many years of training and actual operational and fighting experience in low-light environments. Come expecting to work hard, sweat a lot, shoot even, and you have to be open to learning.
– Rifle / Carbine with a weapon light and a quality sling, 3 magazines, 800 – 1,000 or rounds of ammo
– Handgun with a reliable weapon light, reliable holster built for a handgun with a weapon light, 3 magazines, 800 – 1,000 rounds of ammo
– Spare hand held flashlight(s) of good quality with multiple spare batteries
– Any kit, gear, and accessories you want to use (professional carriers, such as LE/Mil, PMC, and other security personnel are encouraged to bring and wear duty gear).
– Eye & ear protection
– Any night vision or IR equipment used for professional duty personnel.
This course will immediately start on the range, going through a short lighted phase but quickly moving to low light conditions and considerations, then into building skill, speed, and accuracy in low and no light environments.
The Sunday portion will be completely on darkened ranges, and then into the shoot house for for low light building clearing and force-on-force exercises.
Each day will start at 8 am and the end time will vary from 5 or 6 pm.
